Community-owned forest with things to do and see for all the family - natural playground, sea eagles, willow sculptures and beautiful views towards Loch Scridain.

Tiroran Community Forest was purchased on behalf of the local community by South West Mull and Iona Development (SWMID) in 2015.

It’s a fantastic place to visit with a natural playground, designed and built by local and visiting children; an abandoned township, with life-size willow sculptures depicting the people and animals that used to live there; Giant Heads hanging in a sycamore glade; resident white-tailed eagles; a nature trail created by Bunessan Primary School; Atlantic hazelwoods; and beautiful vistas.

The forest generates income for the local community through felling and selling timber. So far this has enabled SWMID to create three new jobs and develop other projects, such as Bendoran and the Ross of Mull Community Garden. We have also planted 28,000 broadleaf and diverse conifer trees, including birch, hazel, Scots Pine and oak.
