Archipelago Folkschool has established a beautiful new workshop on the Isle of Mull to be able to offer our unique sea kayak and canoe building courses in this stunning Hebridean environment. Our canoe courses are for two people making one boat, often a parent and teenager or a special celebration for a couple or just two friends who like canoeing! Our sea kayak courses are designed for individuals creating their own craft. We have 2 yurts (mongolian style timber framed tents) on the croft that we offer as accommodation for the courses. These are glamping at it’s finest, comfy beds, cosy wood stoves and nice views. Otherwise we can provide details of a wide range of accommodation available locally.
Our dates for our main boat courses for 2027 are:
May 29th to June 5th
June 26th to July 3rd
July 31st to August 7th
August 21st to 28th
September 11th to 18th
Course costs vary with the boats – £2400 for Peterborough, £2750 for Prospector and £2300 for Shrike
The price includes all materials, use of tools and tuition and lots of tea and biscuits as well as the option of the free camping area
Archipelago Folkschool is a social enterprise that connects people with craft. Apart from our new courses on Mull, we run courses all over Scotland often working with community groups but also for private clients. Our work is based on the idea that people can connect with each other and with active making through the learning of craft skills.
