On our week long courses, build your own beautifully designed canoe or kayak in the stunning Hebridean environment of the Isle of Mull

Archipelago Folkschool has established a beautiful new workshop on the Isle of Mull to be able to offer our unique sea kayak and canoe building courses in this stunning Hebridean environment. Our canoe courses are for two people making one boat, often a parent and teenager or a special celebration for a couple or just two friends who like canoeing!  Our sea kayak courses are designed for individuals creating their own craft.  For course accommodation we provide a free camping area beside the workshop which has a kitchen/dining area, toilets and showers or we can provide details of a wide range of accommodation available locally.

As this is our first year on Mull, we have good availability. Our dates for 2024 are:

Kayak Building:  May 4th – 11th; July 6th – 13th; August 10th- 17th

Canoe Building: May 18th – 25th; June 8th – 15th; June 22nd – 29th; July 20th – 27th; August 24th – 31st

The price for our canoe courses is £2200 – £2450 and for our sea kayak course it is £2100. The price includes all materials, use of tools and tuition and lots of tea and biscuits as well as the option of the free camping area

Archipelago Folkschool is a social enterprise that connects people with craft.  Apart from our new courses on Mull, we run courses all over Scotland often working with community groups but also for private clients.  Our work is based on the idea that people can connect with each other and with active making through the learning of craft skills.

The main tutor on our Mull courses is our Director Ben Wilde,  supported by members of staff. For more information, please contact us or visit our website
