A beautiful beach of shell-sand coves and pink granite outcrops, Fidden Beach is safe for children and home to many species of rare wildlife.
One mile from Fionnphort, Fidden Beach is located on a beautiful coastline with a wide, shallow, sandy bay, a safe place for children paddling and great place for kayaking and wild swimming. In the summer, the beach is a popular campsite.
The landscape is dotted with pink granite outcrops around white-sand bays and is a favourite spot for viewing sunsets, which turn the granite a deep red.
Fidden Beach is a great place for spotting all sorts of wildlife including mountain hare, geese and many species of wader. Seals can often be seen basking on the rocks and the rare and elusive corncrake has been seen and heard.
Around the coastline there are many sandy coves and just along the shore is the tidal Island of Erraid which featured in the novel “Kidnapped”.
Fidden is included in “The Pottie Loop”, a 6-mile walk which takes in the contrasting features of coastline, woodland and moorland typical of the Ross of Mull.
