Local Mull artists recently raised £500 for the island's Community Covid-19 Emergency Fund. Ronnie Leckie and Aska Marzec-Leckie from The Picture Gallery in Tobermory on Main Street donated an original Isle of Mull painting titled “Sunbeams Loch na Keal” and two prints of the painting from a limited edition of 75 to the island's Covid-19 emergency fund.
To win the painting and prints you could donate any amount on their Crowdfunder page and likewise enter a draw for a chance to win. The public response was very generous and they set a target of £350 but raised £500 instead.
The lucky winners were announced on their Facebook page The Picture Gallery on the 14th of May.
The winner of the original painting was Laura who said: “I can’t believe it! I never win anything…so happy! and the painting is beautiful and the place means so much to me as I spent most of my childhood there at horses.”
Aska and Ronnie said: “We are very pleased that we were able to support this great cause. Huge thank you for all the support from the Community either by donating to or sharing the campaign. It all helps, what an amazing Community spirit. Congratulations to the winners who now can escape to Loch na Keal any time. Enjoy the artwork on your wall.”
Aska and Ronnie are currently working from home and The Picture Gallery remains open online at www.ronnieleckie.com or www.scottishislandart.com. Keep an eye out online for more opportunities to win artwork!
