The start of a new year is a good time for taking another wee break, one that is totally dedicated to self-care and enjoyment, without any pressures. The stunning natural environment of Calgary Bay with its white beach and inspiring art trail, the tasteful spaces that are our accommodation, and the art gallery which will be our yoga and creative studio all offer the ideal surroundings for setting our intention for the year ahead and explore things we may want to have in our lives. While the elements do their thing outside – they can be wild in Scotland! – we’ll sit by the cosy woodstove, hot drink in hand, and chat, write, read, or just be quiet.

Location & accommodation
Mull (Scottish Gaelic: Muile, pronounced [ˈmulʲə]) is the second largest island of the Inner Hebrides (after Skye), off the west coast of Scotland. It has an incredible coastline of around 300 miles and an area of 338 square miles. The highest mountain on Mull is Ben More, with 966 metres the highest mountain in the area. Winter on Mull is beautiful and dramatic with iconic wildlife, dynamic ever-changing landscapes and some of the darkest skies in Europe. Angry seas, moody skies and constantly changing light patterns make us feel closer to the elements. For information on how to get to there please check out the practicalities pages.
We’ve secured two adjoining properties in one of the most stunning locations in Scotland – Calgary Bay. The Hayloft and the Farmhouse offer eco-friendly accommodation with a high level of comfort, individuality and charm. Calgary has a woodland sculpture walk and an art gallery, just up the hill from the white sands of Calgary beach.
Throughout the houses, you will find unique handcrafted local furniture, beautiful limestone tiles and restored pine floors. To add an extra touch of luxury both houses have a sauna.
